Looks mean the Physical appearance of someone, the person’s physique, facial features, and especially the color complexion. We got our looks from our parents sometimes and sometimes not. Some people are attracted and be nice to the person who looks good or carries a fair complexion and let down the dark-skinned or dusky people. But people need to understand that they didn’t get their looks at the store, they got them naturally by God. So, judging personalities based on their looks is quite a weird thing we all do. As society has developed this kind of mindset that fair people are beautiful and are only accepted everywhere. The dark-skinned or dusky people curse themselves or their parents or God for being dark. Some people try to be fair by using cosmetics or fairness creams. Don’t fall for the fancy ads, no amount of fairness cream can make your complexion change permanent. But yes, you can use makeup to look attractive and fair temporarily. If you love that thing, then you can use makeup. Makeup is used to make us more attractive but that doesn’t mean that we look ugly without make-up and cosmetic products. Many use it just to hide their flaws and imperfections which is an incorrect thing because deep down we know that this is not what we are and thus the thought and the truth lowers our self-esteem. And what we feel from inside is reflected outwardly and no amount of make-up can hide the ugliness that harbors within or match the glow of goodness, kindness, and serenity present within.

But we all need to understand that Looks matter. Those who say Looks don’t matter, lie. But they matter only in Reel life or you can say when you have to impress someone or when you have to show off on social media. But in real life seerat(inner beauty) matters for long-term relationships like Marriage or friendships, everyone chooses Seerat over Soorat. Darling if you judge others for their looks, maybe the problem is with you, not with them😐. “Your perception of me is a reflection of you; my reaction to you is an awareness of me”.

The people who love your personality, everything about you becomes beautiful for them. The best thing in life is finding someone who knows all your flaws, mistakes, and weaknesses, and still thinks you’re completely amazing. But before wanting someone else to love you, love, and embrace yourself as you are. When you love yourself, you glow from the inside. You attract people who love, respect, and your energy. Everything starts with how you feel about yourself. Start feeling worthy and valuable. Be magnetic. Don’t boast if you have got fair skin and never criticize anyone for their dark skin. Nobody bought their complexion or looks at the store as I’ve mentioned before. It is what we receive from God. Also, remember that fairness is not a measure of Beauty. Appreciate the dusky tone too because Dark skin is not a crime. Light skin is not a prize. The black outfits or accessories are the only ones that wouldn’t ruin anything if you really cared about how you look. The harsh reality is Black is everyone’s favorite color until it comes to skin. The ones who see your worth on the basis of your looks are the only ones who are in ignorance. Don’t mind their words, they are already in the darkness of ignorance. It’s not only for girls but for boys too. Boys are also got rejected based on their looks or complexion.

Everybody needs to understand that no girl or boy bought their complexion or looks from the market. Remember, Faces are never ugly or beautiful, minds are. So judging anyone based on their looks is a clear sign of immaturity. You should not try to get validation from others for your looks. Parents also should never put their son or daughter in a position where any random person can come and reject them on their complexion, facial features, height, weight, or level of ambition. Why would you want someone to have tea with you and count your child’s ‘flaws?’

The skin has an uneven texture. There’s nothing like perfection. Perfection is a myth. Love the skin you are in. If you are not happy with your looks. You can simply keep working on it. You are capable of doing anything in this world, If you want. Our skin is directly related to our hormones, lifestyle, diet, daily routine, and so on. You cannot simply blame one thing. If you really want to work on enhancing or making yourself better then work on the root cause of it. Acne — the most common skin problem itself has so many causes eg. Hormonal imbalance during adolescence, poor or unhealthy dietary habits, unhygienic lifestyle, insomnia, insufficient fluid intake which doesn’t detoxify our body, and others. Females face breakouts during menstruation due to altered hormonal levels. Make-up can help you in hiding anything temporarily but you must go for a permanent solution and not just rely on cosmetics. A healthy diet and proper lifestyle help us in enhancing and maintaining overall beauty. Our goal shouldn’t be just external beauty. If you aren’t happy with your skin then work on making it healthier rather than masking it behind filters or make-up. But again it’s your choice to do makeup or not.

Skills, Positive Vibes, and confidence are more attractive than looks. Even if you start looking flawless with or without makeup. Someone will still comment on something. If you feel uncomfortable and not good without wearing makeup out in public, then sorry to say but putting on makeup is not a free choice, you made. Something to think about!! Isn’t it?

REMINDER: Never forget your worth. Your worth or dignity is not dependent on other people’s opinions of you. One should understand this concept or accept reality from within. Then only it can make a change in the world. If you are sticking to the orthodox thinking regarding looks and telling other people that looks don’t matter is such a hypocritical thing.

Beauty has no skin tone, it comes from inside. You are beautiful! Don’t be hard on yourself and feel ashamed about your complexion instead embrace it. Say proudly that I’ve got dusky or dark skin and I’m proud of it. I’m not perfect, and so are fair skin people. Perfection is a myth so I’m choosing to be me and I love that. “This is who I am, take it or leave it.” Stop worrying so much about your dark complexion.

On December 8, 2019, history was made as Miss South Africa, Zozibini Tunzi, won the 68th Miss Universe competition — the first Black woman to win the renowned pageant since Leila Lopes in 2011. More noticeably, however, she was the first dark-skinned Black woman to wear the crown with short, natural, and unprocessed hair.

Narrow-minded people can only let others down on the basis of their looks or body shape. Lift each other up.

I think we should compliment and appreciate each other for our creativity, hard work, skills, talent, and jobs because these are the things that are earned, unlike looks. This world would be a better place to live in when we start seeing everyone as energy and not as bodies.

Appreciate yourself for everything because Self-appreciation is the motivational factor. Don’t wait for someone to appreciate you, people appreciate according to their moods. Love yourself with your every scar. Be happy in what you are. Irrespective of your flaws and your looks. You are Sanwli, Gori, Kaali…No, these are words from people who can only see your complexion and not your skills. You are a beautiful soul. Accept yourself and don’t care what people think of you. I always think that I’m the happiest soul in the world and see how I become happy with my affirmation. All that matters is looks don’t matter for the ones who really love you. I like myself, your like is extra. I don’t care who likes it and who doesn’t.

Before I could be expecting my readers to fall in love with my words, I needed them to fall in love with themselves.
